How to prepare for your Maternity Photoshoot session!

I know you might be stressing about your upcoming Maternity photoshoot. You don’t know what to do or what to wear right? Don’t worry, I am here to help. Here are some top tips How to prepare for your Maternity Photoshoot session. I figured I would do a list of some tips that can help you get ready for this exciting day. The purpose of a Maternity Photoshoot is that you and your family radiate and glow. I can help you choose a wardrobe that will look AMAZING (not great, but amazing) in your pregnancy shoot.

Here are 5 tips and tricks you should know in order to have a successful Maternity Photo Session.

1. My Style

My style is very white and neutral, I find this look is timeless and won’t go out of fashion.

2. Pamper yourself!

Get yourself pampered. Enjoy it while you can and this is the perfect excuse for it. Get your nails and toes ready for the shoot. Fix your hair nicely, maybe some light curls.

Do your makeup! Put a little more than what you normally would as usually the pictures tend to not reflect the makeup. I want you to feel the best you can. If fake tan is your thing thats totally up to you, unfortunately there is a charge to edit any fake tan disasters.

I know for me, I felt that my last pregnancy made me feel 10 years older. Getting all dolled up helped a lot with self confidence and to feel comfortable in front of the camera.

3. I have nothing to wear!

Sounds like me every morning! I have plenty of maternity dresses for your to choose from if you wish. I ask that you bring new white/nude underwear (not the white one that is now grey from washing with your blue towels.)

If you would like to bring your own clothes, bare in mind my colour palette of whites, nudes, blush, and neutral colours. If you are not sure, send me a photo, I am happy to help!

If you are including your partner and other kids please coordinate (NOT matching) your outfits. I have plenty little girl outfits in the studio, but not for boys. Simple jeans/chinos work well with a plain white t-shirt or shirt. I may ask them to take their shirts off, but let me know if you are not comfortable with this. ( I will not post the shirtless photos anywhere)

4. Bring your kids, dogs and your partner!

I am more than happy for you to bring any other children, it’s important to include them in this time in their lives. Saying that, this is NOT a family photoshoot. Whilst I will try my best to get everyone in the photo together this may not be possible for this shoot. If your partner wants to be involved that is no problem, I will include them in a couple of photos, but ultimately this photoshoot is for you and your beautiful bump. Children also get bored in the studio if the focus is not on them, so please bring something for them to do while they are sat around. Feel free to bring snacks, but nothing that will stain please. I am happy for you to bring any pets, I ask that you keep them in the car until we are ready for them. If you are bringing any pets please let me know beforehand. Don’t even think about bringing a pet tarantula! Pets need to be toilet trained, and any breakages by your pet will need to be paid for.

It is normal for dad/partners to be grumpy during the session, so don’t stress!

5. Nude or…. well not nude

If you would like to do some nude/semi nude shots thats totally fine, or if you would prefer your clothing on at all times that’s fine as well.

6. Where do I go?

The studio address is 32 Beatrice Street Oswestry, SY11 1QG. There is only 40 minutes parking outside the studio. Feel free to drop off anything/anyone and go and find parking. You can view the map below to see parking options. If you get lost please call me on 07557 269 891

7. How much will it cost me?

Your maternity session is free with your newborn booking. You will get 5 beautiful images included. If you wish to buy more you may.

Embrace your bump, this may be your first or last pregnancy, so just embrace it. I will make you look amazing even if you don’t feel it. You will have photos to treasure for ever (cheesy but true)! Please feel free to bring once of your scans to include in the photos.

Relax… you are in good hands

see you soon
