I know you might be stressing about your upcoming Maternity photoshoot. You don’t know what to do or what to wear right? Don’t worry, I am here to help. I figured I would do a list of some tips that can help you get ready for this exciting day. The purpose of a Maternity Photoshoot is that you and your family radiate and glow. I can help you choose a wardrobe that will look AMAZING (not great, but amazing) in your pregnancy shoot.
Here are 5 tips and tricks you should know in order to have a successful Maternity Photo Session.
1. Style your shoot
This sounds harder than it is. Talk to me about what your visions are for the shoot. Put together a pinterest board if you wish and we can look at what it is you want and I can manage your expectations.
2. Pamper yourself!
Get yourself pampered. Enjoy it while you can and this is the perfect excuse for it. Get your nails and toes ready for the shoot. Fix your hair nicely, maybe some light curls.
Do your makeup! Put a little more than what you normally would as usually the pictures tend to not reflect the makeup. I want you to feel the best you can.
I know for me, I felt that my last pregnancy made me feel 10 years older. Getting all dolled up helped a lot with self confidence and to feel comfortable in front of the camera.
3. I have nothing to wear!
Sounds like me every morning! I have plenty of maternity dresses for your to choose from if you wish. I ask that you bring new white/nude underwear (not the white one that is now grey from washing with your blue towels.)
If you would like to bring your own clothes, bare in mind my colour palette of whites, nudes, blush, and neutral colours. If you are not sure, send me a photo, I am happy to help!
If you are including your partner and other kids please coordinate (NOT matching) your outfits. I have plenty little girl outfits in the studio, but not for boys.
4. Bring your kids, dogs and your partner!
I am more than happy for you to bring any other children, it’s important to include them in this time in their lives. Saying that, children get bored in the studio if the focus is not on them, so please bring something for them to do while they are sat around. Feel free to bring snacks, but nothing that will stain please. I am happy for you to bring any pets, I ask that you keep them in the car until we are ready for them
It is normal for dad to be grumpy during the session, so don’t stress!
5. Nude or…. well not nude
If you would like to do some nude/semi nude shots thats totally fine, or if you would prefer your clothing on at all times that’s fine as well.
Embrace your bump, this may be your first or last pregnancy, so just embrace it. I will make you look amazing even if you don’t feel it. You will have photos to treasure for ever (cheesy but true)!
Relax… you are in good hands
see you soon
